Compiled Messages Topic: Reflections from The Skills Approach Group 2 Date: Tuesday, November 3, 2009 Subject: Case 3.1 Author: Desiree Glover In case study 3.1 Dr. Woods is frustrated with his research team because he feels that the day-to-day tasks are becoming his responsibility and the team is not pulling their weight on this project. During a meeting he says, "I wish I'd never taken this project on. It's taking way too much of my time. The rest of you aren't pulling your fair share."

It is apparent that Dr. Woods is inept in his human skills. He is able to get tasks accomplished and provide resources for his team, but he is unable to connect with the people on his team. Dr. Woods does not have the skills to be an effective leader in my opinion and according to the Skills Approach. Dr. Woods needs to improve his social judgment skills and human skills, if he is to lead his team effectively.
